Jonathan Lumb

Associate Principal

I am thrilled to have joined Cambridge International School as Associate Principal, to take up a fresh new challenge and I want to build on the school’s strong reputation for educational excellence. I strongly believe with a team approach I can inspire and motivate everyone at Cambridge International School so that it can quickly become an outstanding international school. I am passionate about ensuring that every student makes progress in the school and maximises every opportunity that they are given, with an aspiration to go to a first-class university and excel in a top job and have a successful life.

My extensive educational background includes a Master’s degree in education leadership and management from Newcastle University, a Bachelor of Education degree in PE and Mathematics, and additionally National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from Newcastle University. I have amassed over 28 years of experience in education in the UK, out of which 17 years were served in senior leadership positions in numerous schools across the UK, including 7 years as Principal at Haughton Academy, Darlington.  At Haughton Academy, as Principal, I led whole-school improvement and secured the school’s highest ever Ofsted inspection grade (February 2022). In 2021, I was invited to participate in the prestigious British Council’s Building Bridges International Headteacher Exchange Programme, involving 10 schools from both England and Singapore. This gave me an excellent insight into the strengths of the education systems in both countries and a thirst for working overseas in an international school. In 2022, I was appointed as Head of Secondary at Uptown International School, Dubai, where I have spent the last 2½ years supporting the growth of the school into one of the top IB schools in the UAE and securing its best ever inspection grades.

I strongly support our new GCS school vision, ‘to foster a culture of holistic excellence where every learner thrives and is future-ready.'
