Rhys Morgan
Head of Secondary
I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of Secondary at GEMS Cambridge International Private School, Sharjah (GCS). Many of you will already know me, as I have had the privilege of working at GCS for the past two academic years—this year marks my third at the school. I first joined as Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, before progressing to Deputy Headteacher while continuing to lead the Sixth Form. Now, I am deeply honoured to take on the role of Headteacher of Secondary and to lead our incredible secondary school through the next stage of its development.
It is a true privilege to build upon the outstanding work already achieved at GCS. Our school has a well-established reputation for excellence, reflected most recently in our exceptional board examination results. I am committed to ensuring we continue this trajectory of success, while also fostering a warm, inclusive, and high-achieving environment for every student.
Originally from Swansea, Wales, I have spent the past decade living and working internationally across several educational contexts. Prior to joining GCS, I served as Assistant Principal at a large international private school in the Kingdom of Bahrain. My educational journey began in 2015, after completing my first Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and earning my Cambridge CELTA qualification. I began my teaching career in South Korea, where I spent two enriching years before moving to the UAE in pursuit of further professional growth.
Throughout my career, I have continuously invested in my professional development. I have completed the Cambridge DELTA Module 3, an iPGCE, and a second Master’s degree in Education. I also hold the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) and am currently pursuing the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
I believe that my experience across diverse educational systems and cultures has given me a global perspective and an adaptable, student-focused leadership style. I am passionate about developing high-quality teaching and learning and empowering staff with the training and support they need to thrive. By doing so, we ensure that every student at GCS receives the outstanding education they deserve.
I look forward to working in close partnership with our students, staff, and families as we continue to grow, innovate, and excel together.
