Cale Hugill

I am extremely honoured and excited to be progressing my career here at GEMS Cambridge International Private School, Sharjah, by joining the Senior Leadership Team. I am passionate about working within our inclusive and supportive school community that looks to not only inspire a passion for learning, but also to develop individuals in to caring global citizens. I have taught the UK curriculum for seventeen years. Thirteen of those within UK schools, spanning both the state and independent sectors. In my previous role as Head of Mathematics, at GCS, I am immensely proud that I was able to contribute toward GCS achieving a rating of Very Good in its first full inspection; a feat unmatched by any other GEMS school in the UAE. As an A-Level Mathematics teacher I also helped contribute to GCS ranking second amongst all GEMS schools in the UAE for A-Level results in the academic year 2022-23. In addition to my teaching experience, I have held the role of IGCSE Examiner and Team Leader. I also examined for the OCR MEI A-Level specification for three years.

I am now entering my fifth year in the UAE, having taught for two years in Dubai, before joining GCS. Over the past four years I have particularly enjoyed teaching students from many different cultures and backgrounds, and being part of the GCS community has proved to enrich my experiences further.

I believe that all students should be given the opportunity and encouragement to achieve their full potential, through high expectations, excellent teaching and supportive pastoral guidance.

I am excited to bring my expertise and knowledge to the GCS community as well as getting the opportunity to learn new skills myself.
